Getting to Arezzo

There is no Arezzo Airport so you cannot fly to Arezzo directly. We recommend renting a car to travel to Arezzo or alternatively take the bus/train.

You can get a shuttle-bus into the center of Florence from Florence airport. Buy a ticket from the bus driver and it will cost around €6 Euro. It takes around 25 minutes and it drops you off beside the main railway and bus station at Santa Maria Novella.

From the train station at Florence Centre, Santa Maria Novella, there are frequent regional trains to Arezzo. The journey takes about 1 hour 30 minutes or a fast (Veloce) train takes 1 hour. A one-way ticket costs under €10. Find timetables and buy tickets at the Trenitalia website or by using Trainline which is an excellent resource for European trains.

There are three train stations in Arezzo. If you are staying in the centre, choose the main station, called simply "AREZZO".

Where to stay

We have put together some recommendations around Arezzo, we suggest staying close to the centre as we will be providing transport to and from the wedding.

Travelling within Florence

Navigating Florence comes with a few considerations worth noting. First and foremost, it's important to know that ride-sharing services aren't available within the city. Taxis are the primary mode of transportation, ensuring you can get where you need to go. Parking within the city can be quite challenging to come by, so if you've opted for a rental car, it's highly advisable to arrange parking accommodations during your stay.

In Italy, hailing a taxi by waving one down as it drives past you isn't the customary practice. Instead, you'll find taxis conveniently stationed at designated taxi parking stands across major squares within the city and at the airport. To secure a taxi, a simple phone call is all it takes. In Florence, you can reach a taxi via the following numbers: 055.4242 / 055.4390 / 055.4798 / 055.4499.
